Funtography Ring Rules!
There aren't a lot of rules, but the ones here are important! Here's a list of them all, as well as examples of pieces that are acceptable and not.
#1 Rule - ABSOLUTELY NO AI.
This includes fully AI generated images and videos, AI generated elements and "fixes", and AI filters over your photography.
#2 Rule - NO DERAGATORY / HATEFUL RHETORIC OR PROMOTION.
This includes any promotion of pro-hate rhetoric such as racist, homophobic, sexist, transphobic, etc. photos or statements expressed by you, the site owner. You are able to post photos that do not promote hateful rhetoric (riots, rallies, memorials, etc.) as long as it is clear that you aren't promoting hate or derogatory messages.
#3 Rule - DON'T PLAGARIZE.
As artists and photographers, you can probably imagine how scummy it feels when someone pawns off your work as their own. Please don't claim a photo, video, piece of art, etc. is yours unless it is. Don't publish people's photos without their permission. If you post photographs by other people (with permission), please credit them. If you post collages featuring other people's photographs that are indestingishable/uncreditable, you do not necessarily have to.
#4 Rule - If you have NSFW content, please post a warning beforehand.
This includes horror/light gore and more risque pieces, Nude photography is acceptable. You MUST have a warning somewhere before NSFW is shown on your page, preferrably after the widget so that people who don't want to see it can click on to the next person in the webring, though this is not 100% required because many people will have NSFW warnings at the front of their site. Please don't post real photos of heavy gore.
You don't have to be just a photography website.
You can be a personal website, be a blog that posts photos / videos, post photos of your art and crafts (yes, those count too!). Just have some form of photos or videos you enjoy posting and you should fit right in. Niches are also fully welcomed!
Rules may change a bit. They might get added or modified over time as time goes on. Rule enforcement is up to the owner and admins, and sites will be checked up on every now and then to make sure they are still being manned and they aren't breaking rules. If your site seems abandoned for a long time, we may reach out to you to see if you're still interested in being in the ring. If we get no response after waiting a good long while, we may remove your site. If you come back later and still want in, just shoot us an email again.
Here are some handy examples of acceptable and not acceptable pieces and why:
ACCEPTABLE:
This image is acceptable because it is a photograph that does not break any rules. Pieces don't need to be fancy, and simple and fun photos are great. (Photo Source: me! )
This image is acceptable because it's a collage piece featuring photographic elements. It's important to remember that not every photo on your website has to be an art piece. (Piece pictured is "Sweet Sexy Angels" by Braxton Thompson )
(I have blurred this image for privacy and in case anyone is upset by slightly nsfw imagery.) This image is acceptable because it does not break any rules. It isn't NSFW, but would be allowed even if it was as long as there was prior warning. The piece has been touched up by filters, color corrections, etc. This is fine, as long as it isn't by AI. This photo is acceptable and doesn't break any rules. You can post photos and footage of protests, tumultuous events, etc. As long as you aren't being hateful or derogatory, you're fine. (photo by Life Changes on Pexels )
NOT ACCEPTABLE:
This photo is not acceptable because it is generated by AI. (photo Source)
This photo is not acceptable, because although it is not AI generated, it is edited using AI. (photo Source)
(Not going to post actual examples of these for obvious reasons) These images aren't acceptable. Heavy gore (real guts, killings, etc.) are not allowed. Artistic depictions that have a nsfw warning is acceptable on your site. Please put a NSFW warning prior to gore or risque images.
